Mohali: Gujarat Titans won by 6 wickets against Punjab Kings in today’s 16th IPL match.
Chasing a target of 154 runs, the Gujarat Titans got off to an action-packed start as usual. Saha followed the same style this time too, going deep into the power play overs. He hit five consecutive boundaries and got out before the end of the powerplay. Saha had scored 30 runs.
Sai Sudarsan came as one down. Expectations were high on him, but this time he did not fulfill them. He scored only 19 runs off 20 balls with 2 fours. Although skipper Hardik Pandya gave a shock return to the pavilion for 8 runs, Shubman Gill gave Gujarat hope.
He got down to the opening and stayed on till the last over. Having scored 67 runs, Gill bowled the second ball of the last over and needed 6 runs off 4 balls to win.
Sam Curran managed to put pressure on the batsmen with ease and a Rahul Devatia boundary gave the team the win with one ball to spare. Miller, who was by his side, helped by adding 17 runs.
In the end Gujarat team scored 154 runs for the loss of 4 wickets and won by 6 wickets. This is Gujarat’s 3rd win in this series.
For Punjab, Arshadeep Singh, Rabada, Sam Curran and Harpreet Brar took one wicket each.
Punjab Kings Innings: Gujarat won the toss and elected to bowl in this match held at the Punjab Cricket Association Bindra Stadium. Prabsimran Singh got out in the second ball and gave the team a bad start. After a disappointing start for the Punjab fans, captain Shikhar Dhawan returned to the pavilion with 8 runs to add to the fans’ sadness.
Matthew Short, who came after them, added 36 runs in charge and left after doing his best. Jitesh Sharma, who came next, formed an alliance with Panuka Rajapaksa to improve the score but was caught in a hurry and was dismissed for 25 runs. Punjab lost 4 wickets at the end of 15 overs and added 109 runs.
Banuka Rajapaksa, who was expected to play steadily, scored 20 runs and Sam Curran scored 22 runs as the wicket of the team. In the end Shah Rukh Khan hit 2 sixes and walked at the same pace.
