Ahmedabad: Chennai Super Kings team has won the IPL trophy for the fifth time. They won the match against Gujarat by 5 wickets and won the title of champion.
Set a target of 171 runs to win in 15 overs due to rain, Chennai won with the last ball of the last over. Mohit Sharma, who was a game-changing bowler for Gujarat in the current IPL series, dismissed Rahane who had scored 27 runs in the last ball of his first over in today’s match. In the second over, he dismissed Ambati Rayudu and Dhoni in the next ball and put a stop to Chennai’s cup dream.
Mohit Sharma bowled the last over. Needing 13 runs to win, the yorker bowled the first ball and bowled the next three balls brilliantly to suffocate Dube and Jadeja in the field. In the end, after scoring 10 runs in the last two balls, Jadeja hit a six in the fifth ball to win the match and Chennai won the trophy for the fifth time by hitting a boundary in the last ball.
Speaking after the win, Jadeja said, “It’s great to win the trophy for the fifth time for Chennai in front of my home crowd in my hometown. It’s an amazing feeling. Many of my own people have come to support CSK. Really, the support for us here has been amazing. Even late at night, the fans waited until the rain stopped. Big up to CSK fans. Congratulations.
I would like to dedicate this win to one of the special members of our team, MS Dhoni. I was just thinking that I have to play hard no matter what the last time. Yes anything can happen. Mohit is a very good slow bowler. A slow yorker is a good bowler so I thought of hitting it straight. I did so.
I would like to congratulate every fan of CSK on this moment of victory. Keep up the good work you’re cheering for,” he said.
