Today’s Multiple Exam:
Gujarat Titans, who won the title last season, carried over that performance this season as well and dominated the points table to qualify for the play-offs. Gujarat Titans team has a spark like power in both batting and bowling.
Opener Shubman Gill has chased down 680 runs at an average of 56.67 with 2 centuries and four fifties. He is also the 2nd highest run scorer this season. Meanwhile, Mohammad Shami and Rashid Khan are on top of the list of bowlers who have taken most wickets this season. Both have taken 24 wickets each in this season. Shami is also the highest wicket taker in Powerplay.
CSK has qualified for the playoffs more times than any other team in IPL history. This year they have done a tremendous job as a team to qualify for the play offs as the 2nd team in the league with 8 wins. They have a good batting line-up. Daven Conway and Rudhuraj Gaekwad are in good form. Daven Conway is at the 5th position and Rudraj Gaekwad at the 8th position in the list of highest run-scorers this season.
CSK’s bowling was inexperienced at the start of the series. They did not have Deepak Chahar in the first round. But Tusshar Deshpande made the most of his opportunity to take 20 wickets and Pathirana also bowled well this season and took 15 wickets. Jadeja has taken 17 wickets so far in the spin and has also added considerable runs with the bat. Chennai Super Kings are waiting to roar with the intention of winning the title for the 5th time this year.
The pitch at Chepauk has traditionally favored spinners. Although teams have won the chase four times this season, teams who usually bat first have won more matches here. Gujarat Titans have good spinners like Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed and CSK have Jadeja and Moeen Ali. Thus today’s match will be an interesting match between the two teams.
Gujarat Titans and CSK teams have faced each other 3 times in the history of IPL. CSK has not beaten Gujarat even once. Gujarat Titans defeated CSK by 5 wickets in the opening match of this season. CSK may try to avenge these defeats in today’s game.
What does Shubman Gill say? – Shubman Gill, who scored a ton against Bengaluru, said, “I think we have a good bowling attack which suits the Chepakkam pitch. Playing in Chennai against Chennai Super Kings will be exciting.”
Today’s Opponent – Gujarat’s fast bowler Mohit Sharma has taken 17 wickets this season. The 35-year-old can bowl slower balls in the middle overs and create turning edge. He was placed in the CSK team in 2019. This time he is playing against the same team.
Will Shanaka’s input help? – Gujarat skipper Hardik Pandya and coach Ashish Nehra are likely to take advantage of Sri Lanka captain Dasan Shanaka’s inputs as CSK’s fast bowler Madisha Pathirana and off-spinner Mahesh Deeksana have been picked up for the national team. Because both of them are the main players in CSK’s bowling. Pathirana is the best bowler in the final overs.
Will Sai Kishore play? – Gujarat will try to use Tamil Nadu’s Sai Kishore or Ireland’s left-arm medium pacer Joshua Little in today’s match as the Chepakkam pitch is starting to turn. Already Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed are doing great in the cycle. Sai Kishore or Joshua Little could act as the 3rd spinner to support them.
‘Need 3 more’ – CSK’s Shivam Dubey is second in the list of most sixes this season with 33 sixes. Only 3 sixes are needed to overtake Plessis at number one.
Powerplay and Shami… – CSK have lost just 9 wickets in the powerplay in 14 matches in the league this season. It is seen strongly. Meanwhile, Gujarat fast bowler Mohammad Shami has taken 15 wickets in Powerplay this season. At the same time, he has given away only 7 runs per over.
‘Swing, Sling’ – As far as Gujarat is concerned, it might be a challenge to deal with the slower Chepakam pitch. Deepak Chahar’s swing in the power play and Madisha Pathirana’s ‘slingers’ in the final over could pose a threat to Gujarat’s batting line-up.
