Irregularities in the counting of MLC votes: YCP candidate Ravindra Reddy’s allegations

Leaders of opposition parties usually accuse that there are irregularities in the counting of election results. But in Anantapur, despite being in the lead, the candidate of the ruling YSR Congress Party complained about the counting of votes. YCP candidate Vennapusa Ravindra Reddy has alleged that there were irregularities in the counting of MLC votes of graduates of Kadapa-Anantapur-Kurnool districts (West Rayalaseema).

Speaking to the media on Friday evening, Ravindra Reddy said that the state election observers have lodged a written complaint with the district election officer to stop the counting process immediately. Vennapusa Ravindra Reddy alleged that the votes received by him were being added to the Telugu Desam Party candidate.

However, the TDP leaders are alleging that the YCP leaders have been putting pressure on the collector since afternoon to stop the counting due to the fear of defeat. It is said that the YCP leaders are trying to supervise the counting by JC Ketan Garg without Collector Nagalakshmi in the counting center.

On the other hand, the counting of votes for West Rayalaseema graduate MLC elections is going on. A total of 49 candidates are in the running for the graduate post. The process of counting the 2,45,576 votes cast is going on. After the completion of the 8th round of counting, YCP candidate Vennapusa Ravindra Reddy got 74,678 votes and TDP candidate Bhumi Reddy Ramagopal Reddy got 73,229 votes. So far 15,104 invalid votes have been identified. YCP candidate Ravindra Reddy was leading by 1,449 votes after all 8 rounds were completed.
