In the first ODI, when New Zealand’s wicket-keeper batsman Tom Latham came to bat, Ishan Kishan touched his gloves to the wickets and made the bails fall down. After that he appealed for the out. Latham tried to convince the leg umpire that the bat had hit the wickets. But when the replay was examined, it was found that the wicket keeper deliberately touched the wickets with an empty glove. This happened shortly after Latham played the ball with the bat.
Even captain Rohit Sharma did not understand what happened when the bails fell down.. the lights came on.. Ishan appealed for out. So he asked the wicket keeper what happened before the appeal. Ishaan laughed as his act was revealed in the replay.
Actually there is no reason behind Ishaan Kishan doing this. While India was batting, the third umpire announced that Hardik Pandya was bowled in the 39.4th over of Darrell Mitchell’s innings. Actually, Pandya could not play that ball properly.. The ball went into the hands of New Zealand captain and wicket keeper Tom Latham who was standing behind the wickets. As soon as he received the ball.. his gloves touched the wickets.. the bails fell.. the lights came on. With this, the umpire gave out. Latham asked for a review as he suspected that the bails had fallen due to the touch of his gloves.
But the third umpire checked the replays again and again and checked the ultra edge to find out whether the bat hit the edge or not. Although he could not confirm that he was out.. he was out. All cricket fans including Hardik were shocked by this. Netizens were fired on the behavior of the third umpire. Even though Hardik Pandya was not out, Ishan Kishan did this when Tom Latham came into the crease as a protest for getting out.
