New Delhi: BJP MP and animal welfare activist Maneka Gandhi has made a sensational allegation that the ISKCON organization is selling large quantities of cows from its cowsheds to curry vendors.
In a video released in this regard, he said, “ISKCON is the biggest fraud organization in the country. By running cow farms, this organization gets various benefits from the government, including vast lands. I went to ISKCON’s cow farm in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, but there was not a single non-milking cow. .Similarly, not even a single calf. This means they have sold everything. ISKCON sells all its cows to curry traders. No one else does this as much as they do.
ISKCON members walk the streets chanting ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’. They also say that they depend on milk for their whole lives. But nobody sold as many cattle to the butchers as they did,” he alleged.
ISKCON has categorically denied this. In a statement issued by the National Liaison Office of the organization in this regard, “We received information about the video published by Maneka Gandhi regarding the Gosalas of the ISKCON organization. ISKCON is a pioneering organization in cow protection. While beef is a common food in many parts of the world, ISKCON is an international organization for the protection of cows. There are more than 60 Gosalas in India. Managed by ISKCON, hundreds of sacred cows and bulls are protected with personal care throughout the life of the cows.
Abandoned cows, injured cows and sub-cows are protected in ISKCON’s Kosalas. Recently, ISKCON has been imparting cow protection training to farmers and rural people. Recognizing the sacred nature of cows, ISKCON is working to revive our culture of cow worship. ISKCON has received appreciation from the government for taking care of cows with utmost care.
Maneka Gandhi is a famous animal welfare person. Even if the welfare of ISKCON is desired. His statement is surprising. Here we are posting documents related to how cows are cared for in ISKCON’s Gosalas. They will help us to know what is the truth.”
