The UAE Football Association nominated former international player, Ismail Matar, for a ceremony honoring Gulf football legends held by the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Arabian Gulf Football Cup (Gulf 26) on the sidelines of the final match tomorrow in Kuwait.
The Football Association said in a press statement: “Ismail Matar contributed with the UAE national team to winning the titles (Gulf 18) in 2007 in the Emirates, and (Gulf 21) in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2013.”
The statement stated: “The legend Ismail Matar extended his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates Football Association, for choosing his name for the ceremony honoring the legends of Gulf football,” appreciating at the same time the role of the Football Association in supporting current and former football stars.
Matar said: “It is a new and bright day in my professional life in addition to the years I spent in the stadiums. My selection among the elite Gulf football legends is an honorable matter for every player who gave and presented the essence of his art, experience and skills for the benefit of his country and his fans.”
The legend Mattar praised the idea of honoring the legends of Gulf football, stressing that it motivates new generations of players to give the best performance and performance on the field, expressing his happiness at being chosen for this beautiful football occasion.
