Former soccer player Jefferson Farfán has shown that his career did not end with his retirement from professional soccer. At 38 years old, the Peruvian player has reinvented himself as a businessman and recently celebrated the inauguration of KM40, a shopping center located at kilometer 40 of the old Panamericana Sur in Lurín. This modern project, in which he is one of the main investors, reflects the success of his new facet, but it has not been an easy road.
What was Jefferson Farfán’s first business project and why did it fail?
Although his current venture is being a success, Jefferson Farfán surprised by revealing that before KM40 he had a setback in the business world. In an interview with a local newspaper, the popular ‘Foquita’ confessed that she tried to invest in a restaurant, but the pandemic seriously affected her, resulting in the failure of her first business project. “It went badly for me, the pandemic caught me. It was quite an experience,” commented Farfán, who, despite this setback, decided to move forward and learn from his mistake.

The shopping center KM40 It is not just a new commercial space in Lima, but a dream that Jefferson Farfán began to forge in 2019, while he was still playing in Russia. The former soccer player, who had already faced difficulties in business, began planning this project with the support of his family and work team. “Making a mall is not that simple, it is complicated. Thank God we are enjoying it and I hope people like it too,” he added.
Despite its initial failure, Jefferson Farfan reveals that he has managed to overcome obstacles. “I don’t want to be an example, but I think I can be a reference for many kids who come from below and who want to achieve our dreams,” he expressed. With KM40, the former soccer player has managed to take a firm step into the business world, demonstrating that perseverance is key to achieving success.
