Andhra Pradesh government has taken a crucial decision. After the tragedies in Kandukur and Guntur assemblies, public meetings and rallies have been banned on the roads in the state. The government said that meetings and rallies will not be allowed on national, state, municipal, panchayat raj roads and on the margins. However, in very rare cases, district SPs and police commissioners can give permission under strict conditions.

Public meetings and rallies on the roads are causing inconvenience to the people.. and also the deficiencies in the management and the negligence of the managers are killing the lives of the people.. That is why the government has taken a decision to implement the 30 Police Act. Harish Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary, Home Department, issued orders under the Police Act, 1861.

The authorities want to use the national, state, municipal and panchayatraj roads in the state only for the movement of people and goods. Also, officials have been advised to select alternative places for holding meetings in cities, towns and villages. It has been said that parties and organizations can hold meetings in selected places, away from roads and in areas where there is no disturbance to the people.

Meetings on roads are permitted only on rare occasions. If the District SPs/Police Commissioners are satisfied with that, they can give permission for meetings and rallies with conditions. But the organizers have to take permission in writing first.. They have to give information about why the meeting is being held.. from what time to what time it will be held. Also, the route map, the number of people coming to the meeting, and the measures taken for management should be explained and applied. If the District SP/Police Commissioner is satisfied after examining these details, the organizers will be given conditional permission. Violation of the conditions in the organization of the meeting and rally will lead to legal action against the organisers.

The government is reminding the recent accidents that people have lost their lives due to the holding of meetings and rallies without control on the roads. That is why the government has taken this decision. It is known that 8 people lost their lives in the Kandukur incident and 3 people were seriously injured in the Guntur incident. That is why he took steps in that direction. That is why the state government has banned public meetings and rallies on roads.
