“I was not his friend, I am not going to brag about it, but I was not his enemy either. I worked with him and we liked each other; We treated each other cordially. When he came to Miami, his agent let me know, I invited him to my program and I interviewed him,” the writer added.
What would Jorge Lanata’s dream have been?
It should be noted that Jorge Lanata as noted by Jaime Bayly, harbored a persistent dream: to establish a newspaper. This ambition was added to his notable career in founding various media outlets.
“Jorge was very excited about founding a newspaper. He was a great media founder. In Argentina alone he founded two newspapers, five magazines, published eight books and made a film,” he mentioned, underlining the journalist’s vast contribution to the Argentine media landscape.
For the journalist Jaime Bayly, Jorge Lanata represented a unique figure and almost legendary in the world of journalism. His influence and distinctive style made him an unrivaled leader in the profession.
“It was one of those creatures that are born every 50 or 100 years. He was an excessive, eccentric man, exaggerated in every way, immoderate in every way, a bit like Maradona. He was the Maradona of the Argentine press. He once told me that a good journalist must always be in the opposition. He did it in an admirable way,” he concluded in his commemorative video.
