Srinagar. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released the first list of candidates for Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The party has cut the ticket of former Chief Minister Nirmal Singh. The party has announced 44 names in the first list. Mohammad Iqbal Malik has been given ticket from Thanamandi and Syed Wajahat from Anantnag.

Shamlal Sharmish from Jammu (North), Rakesh Thakur from Ramban, Shagun Parihar from Kishtwar, Gajay Singh Rana from Doda, Javed Ahmed from Shopian, Chaudhary Abdul Ghani from Poonch Haveli have been fielded. Arshid Bhat from Rajpora assembly seat of Kashmir Valley, Rafiq Wani from Anantnag West and Salim Bhat from Banihal have been made BJP candidates.
According to sources, BJP will field candidates on 70 assembly seats in Kashmir, while it will support independents on 20 seats in Kashmir. Apart from Jammu, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also bet on Muslim candidates in Kashmir to win the election. This is the first time that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given tickets to Muslim contenders in the first list.
Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had released the first list of seven candidates. Ghulam Nabi Azad’s party has also announced candidates for 13 seats. Let us tell you that this year voting will be held in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir. The first phase of voting will be held on 18 September. The second and third phase of voting will be held on 25 September and 1 October. The counting of votes will be held on 4 October.
