The meeting dismissed the CEO as the culprit in the recent spate of passenger congestion and disruption of air services. The meeting noted that the airport authorities had failed to properly handle the rush of passengers during the Umrah pilgrimage, especially during the Eid al-Fitr holidays. Saudi Transport Minister Saleh al-Jazeer had earlier ordered a detailed investigation into the incident. The minister also directed to appoint a special inquiry committee headed by the head of civil aviation.
The committee will look into the recent congestion at the airport, which has disrupted air services and the reasons for it. The committee will also look into the failure to resolve such a crisis. The committee will also report on what facilities need to be put in place to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future and to provide impeccable services to air travelers.

Passengers, including many Umrah pilgrims, including Malayalees, were in distress due to the uncertainty at the airport. Passengers traveling to various countries had to stay at the airport for a day due to delays in air services. Elderly people, including women and children, were left without food and rest. Some even had to travel by plane without luggage. The main reason for the crisis is the return of Umrah pilgrims in large numbers after Ramadan and the delay in some flights. Many found it difficult to get a boarding pass and enter the airport.
