The last quarter moon for the month of Jumada Al-Ula will shine in the sky of the Arab world after midnight, today, Sunday, September 26, 2021, and it will decorate the sky for the rest of the night.
The head of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, the engineer, Majid Abu Zahira, stated that the moon will reach the moment of the last quarter at 05:23 am Mecca Al-Mukarramah time, and it will cut three-quarters of its orbit around the Earth this month.
And he indicated that one of the most beautiful scenes is the observation of the moon high in the sky in conjunction with the beginning of sunrise, and it will remain visible in the sky until sunset in the afternoon, according to local time.
Engineer Abu Zahira pointed out that the moon revolves around the Earth once every four weeks, and the result of its phases cycle is from conjunction, the crescent of the beginning of the month and the first quarter, through the increasing humpback, then the full moon, then the diminishing humpback, then the last square and the crescent at the end of the month.
He added: “And it returns to the conjunction again once every 29.5 days, and this movement also means that the moon moves quickly across the sky, from one night to the next night, the moon cuts 13 degrees in the dome of the sky, and this makes the moon rise and set late by about an hour every day.”
It is noteworthy that during the next few days the distance between the moon and the sun will decrease until the moon becomes in the crescent phase at the end of the month and is observed shortly before sunrise in preparation for its occurrence in conjunction for the month of Jumada al-Thani 1443.
