Jefferson Farfán, known as ‘Foquita’, has taken a notable turn in his life after retiring from football. During a recent interview, the former soccer player surprised by sharing little-known aspects about the acquisition of the land in Lurin where the ‘Foquita Mall’, a business project named KM 40. As he confessed, the purchase was a difficult decision that was marked by financial fears and geographical risks.
The athlete explained that the land, located in an area that was once affected by landslides, raised doubts in him. “I bought it with a lot of pain,” said Farfán, recalling the initial fears, intensified by the failure of a restaurant he tried to open in Türkiye. However, he stressed that his mother, Doña Charo played a crucial role in encouraging him not to miss this opportunity.

Jefferson Farfán revealed that the land in Lurín, where the ‘Foquita mall’ stands, originally belonged to European citizens. “There were two or three Spaniards who owned it, and I honestly doubted it a lot. I remembered that at some point a landslide passed through that area,” he commented. Despite his doubts, he decided to follow the advice of his mother, who convinced him with her intuition and vision for the future.
Besides, Farfan recognized that the purchasing process was emotionally complex due to the fear of repeating failures. “I had lost money before and I didn’t want to risk it again. But today I am grateful for having made that decision because I don’t just think about myself, but about my children. “This mall is a legacy that I want to leave them,” said the former soccer player, visibly moved.
“I don’t want to be an example, but I think I can be a reference for many kids who come from below and who want to achieve our dreams,” added the former Peruvian national team player.
