Dhanbad: 14 people died in the biggest fire in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad.
At least 14 people were killed and many others injured in a fire that broke out in a multi-apartment building in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district today. Reports suggest that many others are trapped in the building.
The fire broke out around 6 pm at the Ashirwad Tower apartment complex in Dhanbad’s Jorapadag area, 160 km from the state capital Ranchi. As it is an apartment building, it is feared that many people may have been involved in the fire accident. Dhanbad DSP said that the exact number cannot be given as rescue operations are underway.
Speaking to the media, a Dhanbad police officer said, “It has been learned that many people have come to the residence to attend a wedding ceremony. The cause of the fire is still unknown. We are focusing on the rescue operation. The injured are being taken to the hospital.”
At the same time, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soran expressed condolences to the deceased. Chief Minister Hemant Soran said in a post on Twitter, “The district administration is providing treatment to those injured in the accident on a war-time basis.”
