Serie A club Juventus announced on Monday that defender Danilo will miss important matches for the next eight weeks due to a thigh injury.
The Brazilian player has participated in almost all Juventus matches except for three matches in all competitions this season, but he was injured in the 2-0 win over Lazio in the Italian league in Rome on Saturday.
The club said in a statement: “Tests showed a moderate injury to the left thigh thigh and it is expected that it will take initially eight weeks to recover.”
The Turin team is currently eighth in the Italian league after a poor start to the season, but leads its group in the Champions League, three points ahead of Chelsea, who will meet on Tuesday in London.
Danilo will miss at least 12 matches, including European matches against Chelsea and Malmo, league matches against Atalanta, Napoli and Roma and the Italian Super Cup against Inter Milan in January.
