The remnants of the troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), knocked out of the city of Rubizhne in the Donbass, are blocked at the Zarya plant. This was announced on May 11 by the assistant to the head of Chechnya for the power bloc, Apty Alaudinov.
“All these days we have been busy blocking the Zarya plant. We had the task of clearing it from the left flank of the plant to Kudryashovka from those strongholds and points that were located there, so as not to leave the enemy behind us. We have already completed this task, our forces and means practically blocked the plant, ”RIA Novosti quotes Alaudinov as saying.
According to him, the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) carried out the operation together with the fighters of the special forces “Akhmat” of Chechnya. At present, they have reached the village of Voevodovka.
On May 8, a fighter of the People’s Militia of the LPR told Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Zimenkin about the situation in the area of the Zarya factory in Rubizhne. He noted that there were battles in the industrial zone. According to him, the Ukrainian troops at the plant “dug up pillboxes, bunkers, fortifications, underground utilities.”
On April 25, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced the release of Rubizhny. According to him, the Akhmat special forces, together with the reconnaissance units of the 2nd Army Corps of the LPR, attacked the positions of Ukrainians in the city. He specified that a group of nationalists abandoned their fortified positions and hastily left the line of hostilities. Alaudinov reported that the Zarya plant remained under the control of Ukrainian troops.
In the Donbass, a special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the population of the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics continues, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24. Moscow explained that its tasks include the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On April 19, the Russian side announced the start of the next stage of the military operation – “the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics.”
The situation in Donbass escalated significantly in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and turned to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DNR and LNR.
