A great tragedy has taken place in the Telugu film industry. Veteran director, Kalathapaswi, Dadasaheb Phalke awardee passes away (92). He breathed his last on Thursday night while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad. K. Vishwanath has been suffering from age-related health problems for a few days. In this order, he was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad. However, the doctors announced that K. Vishwanath passed away at midnight on Thursday. Kashinathuni Vishwanath was born on February 19, 1930 in a village called Peda Pulivarru in Repalle taluka of Guntur district. He spent his childhood and primary education in Pedapulivarra but did not live in that town for long. Vishwanath did all his schooling in Vijayawada. He completed his college education at Guntur Hindu College and AC College. Took B.Sc degree. Cine PrasthanamK. Vishwanath started his film career as a sound recordist in a studio in Chennai. While working on the film Todikodallu produced by Annapurna Sanstha, he came in contact with director Adurthi Subbarao and joined him as his assistant. Vishwanath turned director with Akkineni Nageswara Rao-starrer Atma Harmana. The film won the Nandi Award from the state government. K Vishwanath has directed a total of 60 films. He presented many classics like Shankarabharan, Sagarasangam, Swarnakamalam, Saptapadi, Swathimuthyam, Swayamkrishi, Shubhalekha, Apadbandhavudu, Shubhasankalpam. Also, as an actor, K. Vishwanath lived in many great roles. He received the National Award for Shankarabharan and the National Integrity Award for Saptapadi. The movie Swatimutyam was officially nominated for the Oscars in 1986. Vishwanath was honored by the Government of India with the Padma Shri for his comprehensive service to Indian cinema. Vishwanath was awarded Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2016.
