Kamareddy: Master Plan Ragada.. Kamareddy Collectorate Which Has Become A Battleground

Kamareddy: There is tension at Kamareddy Collectorate. Farmers of the villages to be merged in Kamareddy Municipality, along with their family members, gathered in front of the Collectorate against the master plan. They raised slogans against the government. Farmers tried to enter the collectorate. There was high tension as they tried to push the barricades forward. Two farmers fainted in the fight. The fellow farmers who helped them took them to the hospital.

A farmer named Ramulu committed suicide on Wednesday as he was worried that his land would be lost in the master plan. This has intensified the concerns. Under the auspices of Rythu Aikyakaryacharana Samiti, the farmers came to the Collectorate on a large scale and demanded the cancellation of the Kamareddy Municipal Master Plan. A huge rally besieged the Collectorate. They concluded that there will be no movement from here until the collector comes and takes the memorandum. BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao supported them. He said that it is not appropriate to do injustice to the farmers. They demanded the government to release a white paper on how many industrial zone lands have been converted into residential zones since 2014. Lands that are not suitable for agriculture should be allocated for industries.

Minister KTR’s response..
IT Minister KTR responded to the concern of Kamareddy farmers. KTR asked the officials why they could not explain this matter to the farmers that the draft of the master plan is under change. They want to explain to the people that there will be a referendum. Minister KTR commented that the government exists to help the people and the master plan is for urban development. He said that people’s problems should be comprehensively reviewed by public representatives.

What a controversy..
As per the directives of the Telangana Government, the master plan of the Kamareddy Municipality was prepared with a Delhi-based company recently. A master plan has been prepared with an area of 61.5 square kilometers including Kamareddy town and the merged villages of Adlur, Tekiryal, Kalsipur, Godupalli, Lingapur, Sarampalli, Patharajampet and Rameswarapalli. The entire town is divided into industrial, green, commercial and residential zones. If there are any objections on the master plan, they said that applications will be received till 11th of this month.

While 1200 acres have been proposed for the industrial zone, 900 acres of land belonging to Adlur, Ilsipur, Tekiryal and Adlur farmers have been proposed in it. Due to this, the demand for these lands fell. Due to this, the farmers took the path of agitation. Along with this, a 100 feet road has been proposed across 8 villages. Due to this, people lost their houses and business complexes in those villages due to the expansion of the road. They started agitation saying that they don’t want a 100 feet road. The victims have been agitating for the last few days in Kamareddy town under the auspices of the Farmers’ Action Committee. Today, the concern has intensified.
