Kanam Rajendran had to have his foot amputated when the wound on the bottom of his right leg did not heal due to diabetes. The first operation was to amputate the three toes, but the infection did not subside, and the foot was amputated. Kanam clarified that the foot was amputated last Tuesday.
There were reports yesterday that Kanam Rajendran may vacate the post of CPI state secretary due to ill health. But Kanam said that it was just propaganda. Kanam will be elected as the state secretary for the third time in the CPI state conference held in October 2022.
As the Lok Sabha elections approach, the lack of a secretary can be overcome through collective leadership, the CPI will try. According to the organizational pattern, there are two assistant secretaries under the state secretary in the CPI. E Chandrasekaran and PP Suneer are Asst. Secretaries. Apart from them, Central Secretariat member Binoy Vishwa and National Executive Committee member K Prakash Babu will be active in the state leadership.
The state executive committee meeting on 30th of this month will consider Kanam Rajendran’s leave application. The issue may also be discussed in the meeting of the National Executive Committee to be held in December.
