Nagercoil: Kannan from Kanyakumari district has won the 85 kg weight category in the World Ironman competition. He finished 2nd and won the silver medal.
Kannan (40) hails from Thamarai Kutivlai near Nagercoil in Kanyakumari district. A physical education coach, he has already earned the title of Iron Man of India. Recently in Nagercoil, he accepted the challenge of pulling a 9.5 tonne lorry and lifting a 370 kg car without an engine, while he was a spectator at a circus in Nagercoil, and lifted an 85 kg bomb by hand.
In this case, he was undergoing intensive training to participate in the ‘Strong Man’ competition, which is the most popular sports in the world. Athletes participating in this competition at the international level have to lift objects that weigh many times their body weight to set a record. This year’s World Ironman Championships were held yesterday in Chandigarh, Punjab, India for the first time. While players from 7 countries participated in this, Kannan participated in the 85 kg weight category competition. The results were announced today.
In the Lock Press, Yoke Walk, Tire Flip and Stone categories, the first place was won by Gurdeep Singh (38) from Punjab, while Kannan won the second place and won the silver medal. While Kannan has already achieved various achievements and earned the title of iron man, now he has brought pride to India and Tamil Nadu by winning a silver medal in the world iron man competition. He has been praised by various parties, including the organizers of Iron Man competitions and athletes at the global level.
