Bangalore: Karnataka beat Uttarakhand by an innings and 281 runs in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final to advance to the semi-finals.
Uttarakhand were bowled out for 116 runs in the first innings in this match played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Venkatesh took 5 wickets for Karnataka team. Continuing to play, Karnataka scored 606 runs in 162.5 overs in the first innings. Shreyas Gopal scored the highest 161 runs. Ravikumar Samarth scored 82 and captain Mayank Agarwal added 83 runs.
Playing the 2nd innings behind by 490 runs, the Uttarakhand team scored 106 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 41 overs on the 3rd day with Thiksanshu Negi not out with 27 runs and Swapnil Singh 27 runs. Continuing the last day’s play yesterday, Uttarakhand lost all wickets for 209 runs in 73.4 overs.
Swapnil Singh top scored with 51 runs. On behalf of the Karnataka team, Vijaykumar Vaishak and Shreyas Gopal took 3 wickets each. Karnataka won by an innings and 281 runs to advance to the semi-finals. Shreyas Gopal, who scored 161 runs in batting and 3 wickets in bowling, was selected as the man of the match. Having qualified for the finals 14 times and won the trophy 8 times, Karnataka is aiming to win the title for the 9th time.
