A psychological war has broken out between the ruling BJP in Karnataka and the Congress, which is dreaming of returning to power, over the selection of candidates. Both have the same problem – a lot of claimants for tickets and their fear of rebellion if they are not given tickets. In such a situation, they are following the strategy of announcing their candidates for at least 50 closely contested seats at the very last moment. There are elections in the state on May 10 and nominations are to be filled by April 20.
Congress has so far announced 166 names in two lists.
The Congress has released its list of candidates for 166 seats and has not yet opened its cards for 58 seats. It has largely contained the rebellion by fielding 60 of its sitting MLAs again. The seats for which it has decided candidates are the seats held by other parties.
Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar, the two frontrunners in the race for the post of CM, are also in the game of fielding their loyalists on the remaining seats. JDS has released the names of 93 candidates.

Congress will hold more than ten big rallies
Congress will organize more than 10 big rallies and it is starting with Satyamev Jayate Rally in Kolar. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi will address this rally. This will be Rahul’s first rally after becoming a member of Parliament. Kolar is the place where during the 2019 elections, Rahul had made a comment on Modi surname, in which the Surat court sentenced him to two years.
BJP parliamentary board meeting on candidates today
The BJP has prepared a list of two candidates each for all the seats. He believes that it may be necessary to cut the ticket of an MLA or the seat of an MLA may have to be changed. In both the cases an alternative candidate is required. Moreover, two candidates have been put forward for the CM’s seat as well. Karnataka CM BR Bemmai and Yeddyurappa arrive for the Parliamentary Board meeting in Delhi on Saturday.
