New Delhi. The difficulties of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal are seen growing once again. The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has ordered an inquiry into the renewal of their residence (Sheeshmahal) 6 Flag Staff Bungalow. The order was issued on 13 February, when a fact-based report was presented by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD).
According to the order given by the Central Vigilance Commission, CPWD has to investigate whether the building rules were ignored or not in the construction of this luxurious palace. The bungalow has been renovated in 40,000 square yards (about 8 acres) and alleged that several rules were violated during its construction. The BJP had alleged that more than Rs 45 crore has been spent on the renewal of the bungalow. Kejriwal stayed here from 2015 to 2024.

This investigation will be specially conducted on whether the building construction rules prescribed for renovation of the Flagstaff bungalow (Sheeshmahal) were violated to construct this luxurious palace. During this time it will also be investigated whether public money has been used properly and whether any financial irregularity has been found in this construction.
The BJP alleges that Kejriwal has spent crores in renovation of the house while being the Chief Minister. During the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP and the Congress raised the issue seriously. The CVC investigation may further increase the legal crisis for Arvind Kejriwal and his party. It will now be interesting to see what conclusion comes out in the CVC investigation and what action is taken in this matter.
