Yes, thanks to “Al fondo hay lugar” we reached other countries where the series was very popular, such as Bolivia, Ecuador, parts of Central America. This 2022 (the series) also comes with the complete package, recreating the situations and new music thanks to the musical production by Juan Carlos Fernández, who has a lot of faith in our work and is a great friend.
The songs that people remember the most are the most romantic. We have a song that went viral in the summer
TikTokIt’s called “Time”. It is a song performed by Afrodisíaco that is from “Al fondo hay lugar”. Also “Where is love”, “My heart”, “My mistake”, “A crazy love”, while “Give me a little more” is from the series “Señores papis”. And in the series “Maricucha” we have the song “I can’t get away from you”.
Aphrodisiac, a band that plays with different musical genres
They have been around for more than 20 years, and they are one of the bands that, although they fall into the rock category, have also played with other rhythms such as saya, reggae, cumbia.
Music is reinventing itself, now I listen to Rauw Alejandro or Sebastián Yatra on the radio, what Camila Cabello does seems fabulous to me. We always try to grab some elements to recreate our music because Aphrodisiac is a mixture of rhythms.
We’ve even done saya with our dear friend Pelo D’Ambrosio, which was played a lot in Chile and Bolivia, also songs with Los Rabanes from Panama; with La Mosca Tsé-Tsé or The Authentic Decadents of Argentina, who are great friends.
We have created many songs because of that concern of using reggae or pop like a horse that goes to many places. We had no problem sharing the stage with people from folklore, cumbia and rock; What I do believe is that we will never get to do something salsa because I don’t have much contact with that genre, but I do like to listen to it.

Do you think there is a lack of support for national bands?
When we manage to hit with a song and it has transcended in recent years it has been on TV, but when we play on the radio it is another mystery because the radio is closer to the people and, unfortunately,
in the country the radio does not have coverage for new talents or new songs. This catches my attention because for the category of the salsa genre, cumbia, it does happen sometimes.
I would like that in the genre of rock, pop or fusion, more coverage is given to new talents, which are a lot, but we continue to listen to the same songs from 20, 30 years ago in those genres.
That yes, it would seem very healthy to me that there is more openness that the laws are complied with, since in the Law (Law of the Performing and Performing Artist, Law 28131), it is said that there must be more coverage of the percentage of national production, but basically not done.

Koki Bonilla considers that due to “a custom and a bad habit” different music radio houses only broadcast the most popular songs internationally.
He assures that our country has a lot to show, not exclusively in the gastronomic or tourist field, but it is necessary to raise awareness of the problem.
“In Peru there are spectacular things in music, from ballads to folklore, but one turns on the radio and listens to anything except Peruvian music.so I think it’s due to being easy, to a comfort zone of the radio people who don’t want to take risks”.

How was the reception of Afrodisíaco on the radio?
It has turned out fabulous. “Where is love” is a song that reached number one on Ritmo Romántica radio, (space) where I never thought of playing it because it was not my field, but now, thanks to the soap operas, they called me one day, they put it on and it was so requested…
So what’s up, what
no one will know how good the music is until someone listens to it; you have to give it a tryone week, two weeks to see if it has a reception and thus look for songs from the national repertoire so that we don’t say in the future that this generation did nothing.
In fact, if We the lion, Laguna Pai were played on the radio, imagine, it would be a support for them to transcend internationally, because that is what an international catalog asks of you, “’How are you doing in your country?’ ‘Well, there’, ‘do you sound in your country?’ ‘No, but I fill a stadium, ah’”. And that is not the fault of the artist, but of the media.

YOU CAN SEE: Jessica Newton to Pedro Suárez Vértiz: “How macho! I never would have thought of you.” The shock of the pandemic in the musical field
What happened with the band during these two years and how do you see the panorama now that the shows have been normalized?
In a pandemic we had to reinvent our way of life, we implemented a mini-studio in our house, an audio card, a program to record on the computer, a good microphone and thus make songs. In this time we have composed no less than 20 songs, we have recorded from a distance.
What are your next projects?
Release an album this year (ten to twelve songs). A week ago we released the single “Borracha cha”, which is like a cha cha, but rock of a song that was quite popular in 2000 with the original authors. We also plan to give many concerts and try some international festivals, since doors are opening. Also, continue with the series and other movies that have called us to make some songs.
On the controversial publications of Pedro Suárez Vértiz
What do you think about the latest publication by Pedro Suárez Vértiz where he makes a macho speech?
I know that sometimes you post very personal things, sometimes very controversial. I met Pedro at the beginning of the 90s thanks to the band Arena Hash, we played in several concerts together in his presentation of the album “El rey del ah ah”, I had a rock band and we shared, we became good friends, but let’s say I haven’t heard much about him in a few years.
He is very controversial to speak, sometimes he goes too far in his posts. I remember hearing other similar crazy things, but yes, actually, I don’t share that idea. Definitely, one has to love oneself, love oneself before thinking of others.

The car accident that changed the life of Koky Bonilla
What inspires you to write songs?
There is a very important factor in the author, composer, it is the factor of experiences. me personally more or less
At the end of 2004 I had a car accident that almost cost me my life and it was a product of fatigue, of monotony and to be permanently in the shows.
We had too strong a time, it was almost 4 years of touring and playing all over the country, giving the same concerts in the same places: coast, mountains and jungle; We went to some countries, abroad, like Colombia, Mexico, the United States. We had a very good contract with Universal Music.
At the end of 2004 I had this accident and I booked her, I woke up in the emergency room, I have my daughter who is now a graduated psychologist, she is my pride, and at that moment the only thing I did was go back to her, look for her and hug her and have the feeling that for a moment everything is almost over.
“The songs began to have a different tint and people began to love me more because they identified with this story,” said Koky Bonilla. Photo: Aphrodisiac/Instagram

The accident changed your way of thinking
I had a sabbatical year in which I decided not to do anything, I disbanded the group and everyone called my attention, they were annoyed with me because they were going to lose their jobs, but I decided to do it because it almost cost me my life and I’m not exaggerating because my car was damaged shreds.
That year I begin to see things from another point of view, to compose songs from another point of view and I make a solo album called “Nada está lost” and some songs were finally used.
“Nothing is lost” talks about God, a little about life and there is another song on that album called “Where is love”, which was the one they used in “Al fondo hay lugar” years later.
YOU CAN SEE: Mario Zedog on his album “El Sueño del Inca”: “It is inspired by the ethnic essence of Peru” Koky Bonilla was reborn after that dark episode
The artist Koky Bonilla pointed out that as a result of that accident he took life more slowly. “When such radical things happen to you in life and they take you out, you start to recapitulate and see all the things you stopped doing or the people you let go because you were in the frenzy of music, in the trip and the madness.”
“They made me a better person, a better lyricist, a better storyteller and that is where another stage of Aphrodisiac begins. I picked up, gathered the people who were still out there and we started again.
The songs began to have a different tint and people began to hold me more affection because they identified with this story “expressed the interpreter of “El tiempo”.
