Regional officials are urged not to spend holidays in foreign resorts. This was reported on January 17 by Kommersant.
“After several high-profile scandals related to vacations in foreign resorts, the regions began to restrict officials and deputies in the right to travel outside Russia,” the publication reports.
It is noted that the restriction operates at a recommendatory level, since local authorities cannot officially prohibit officials from traveling abroad.
As Aleksey Preobrazhensky, deputy head of the administration of the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, emphasized, the heads of regions do not have the authority to impose such bans. However, all officials understand what threatens to violate the recommendations.
In turn, Pavel Krupnik, head of the United Russia branch in the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, pointed out that the travel ban could not have official grounds. At the same time, each official must be accountable for his actions and behave decently.
Earlier, on January 10, Andrey Turchak, Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia party, said that Denis Dolzhenko, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Vologda Oblast, who posted his photo from a run in Dubai on social networks, would be deprived of his party card. During the New Year holidays, there were several high-profile cases when United Russia deputies “behaved inappropriately,” Turchak added.
On January 6, Dolzhenko published a post from Dubai on the VKontakte social network. He signed a photo from a trip to the UAE that he does not ski very well, “and running in such a frost is not very comfortable,” so he “listened to the recommendations of weather forecasters, warmed up.”
In addition, the governor of the Kursk region Roman Starovoit on January 7 criticized the behavior of the deputy of the regional Duma Maxim Vasiliev, who recorded a video greeting from Mexico. He expressed hope that the appropriate commission of the regional duma would evaluate the ethical behavior of the official. As Starovoit noted, he considers such behavior inappropriate.
