Kosovo: The “Art for Hope” donation campaign was held for the victims of the earthquake in Turkiye

“Yunus Emre” Institute organized the final program of the donor campaign called “Art for Hope”, which was launched in Kosovo in support of the victims of the earthquake in Turkey, reports Anadolia.

The President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani also attended the program.

About 40 Kosovar artists participated in the donor conference with more than 40 works, which could be purchased at a minimum price of 1,000 euros. The proceeds from the sale of the works will be distributed to poor families affected by the earthquakes through Turkish institutions such as AFAD or the Turkish Red Crescent.

In her speech after the joint iftar, the President of Kosovo stated that the “Art for Hope” activity is an effort to help Turkish friends at least a little.

“Our people, the people of Kosovo, have a tradition of always being close to each other. We have continuously cultivated solidarity, as in February after the devastating earthquake we found ourselves close to the Turkish state. Once again tonight we are here to show the human spirit for Turkish citizens in need our help and support,” said Osmani.

She said that the solidarity spirit of Kosovo was most demonstrated by the soldiers of the Kosovo Security Forces and the Association of Searchers and Rescuers, who saved people’s lives. She pointed out that unfortunately the lost lives cannot be returned, but a message can be sent to the Turkish people that they are not alone.

At the end, President Osmani addressed the audience in Turkish, saying that Turkiye is not alone and that Kosovo will always be with her.

Ambassador of Turkey in Kosovo Sabri Tunc Angili said that the artists showed with their works that hope is what is preserved as much as it is increased.

“In this great earthquake disaster that we experienced, we saw that not only the Turkish people were united, but also that peoples from all over the world mobilized to help Turkey. This means a lot to us because it shows us that Turkey is a loved and respected member of the family of nations.” , emphasized Ambassador Angili, thanking all participants of the “Art for Hope” campaign.

Two earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 7.6 on the Richter scale hit 11 provinces in Turkey on February 6 of this year and as a result over 50,000 people lost their lives. About 14 million people in Turkey were affected by the earthquakes, as were many in neighboring northern Syria.
