Kuwaiti Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdul Rahman Baddah Al-Mutairi, said yesterday that his country is seeking to host the Asian Football Cup.
Al-Mutairi, who is also Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Gulf Cup (Gulf 26), told reporters during the opening of the media center for the tournament: “We have the desire to host the Asian Cup.”
The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida said that the local Football Association has submitted a request to the Asian Football Confederation to organize the 2031 Asian Cup.
Al-Mutairi added that Kuwait has a strategy to host 45 world championships within four years.
The Kuwaiti national team is at the top of the list with the most Gulf Cup titles in the history of the tournament, a total of 10 times, the first in 1970 and the last in 2010, about 15 years ago from now.
