Importance of sleep
It is said to sleep at least 7 to 8 hours a day. But many people do not get enough sleep. Even among the young people today, sleep deprivation is very common. Lack of sleep can make you more likely to become a type 2 diabetic. This is because when you lack sleep it causes insulin resistance. If our body does not produce insulin properly, the sugar from the food we eat will not be converted into energy. When there is too much sugar in the blood, it leads to diabetes. This leads you to type 2 diabetes. Also, when we don’t get enough sleep, we tend to eat more frequently. This leads to overeating and thereby excess calories in the body. This leads you to gain weight as well as diabetes.
To get a good sleep
Since lack of sleep can cause diabetes, we should also pay attention to ways to get good sleep. Because once we get diabetes, we can never cure it. Instead, it can only be controlled. So, sleep is very important. It is best to avoid caffeinated foods like coffee, tea and chocolate at night to get a good night’s sleep. Also, make sure to eat good digestible foods at night. If our digestion is not done properly, it also affects our sleep.
Some people drink too much water before going to bed at night. However, drinking too much water can disturb your sleep. Frequent need to urinate can destroy sleep. So, if you feel thirsty at night, drink only a little water. Also, make sure to eat at least 1 hour before going to bed. It helps in proper digestion. Similarly, it is good to drink warm milk before going to bed at night. It helps you sleep well.
