New Delhi: Rs 240 crore worth land of Tamil Nadu monastery in Varanasi has been recovered.
There are inns of the urban community of Tamil Nadu in many places like Prayagraj in UP, Ayodhya and Kashi, Bookaya in Bihar, Nashik in Maharashtra, Kolkata Kali Temple in West Bengal. Their headquarters are located in Karaikudi.
‘Srikasi Nadu Fort City Inn’ was established in 1813 in Varanasi. Worships of the Kasi Vishwanathar Temple are conducted on its behalf in the Gothaulia area. For this, there is a procession from the city inn to the pooja with flowers and fruits, accompanied by drum beats and returning after the pooja.
In this case, the city inn in Varanasi owns 62,000 square feet of land worth Rs 240 crore in Nandavanam on the Sikra side of the Ganges.
Here, flowers are cultivated for the Viswanathar Temple. Munna’s Anand Mohan and his brother Krishna Mohan, who were hired for the task, occupied Sikra’s land.
It took many years of effort on behalf of the town inn to recover this. UP Chatterjee met Varanasi Police Commissioner Shakthi Ganesh and officials ahead of the election.
Later, with his intervention, a lawsuit was filed against the Mohan brothers and the town’s land was vacated. Also, someone is currently occupying the roof of the town inn building. Opposite this is a 4,000-square-foot cattle ranch owned by the township. The work of rescuing these also continues.
Retired DSP Muthukumar and M.S. Alagappan, two Tamils close to Prime Minister Modi, the Varanasi Lok Sabha MP, have also played a key role in the affair. One year ago, M. Manikandan, a Tamil who was the assistant governor in Varanasi, also helped.
To this end, the Mohan brothers had lodged a case against Officer Manikandan. Ananda Mohan was also contesting from Varanasi constituency on behalf of Samajwadi Party. The city’s land grab complaint was also a major factor in his failure.
