New Delhi: The Rose Avenue court on Friday granted bail to former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s wife Rabri Devi, daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav till February 28 in the railway construction case.
Special Judge Vishal Gokne granted the trio interim bail after the enforcement department requested time to respond to the regular bail plea. The court heard the chargesheet filed by the enforcement department in connection with the case and issued summons to the accused. Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav appeared in person on Friday following court summons. The court questioned the enforcement department as to why judicial custody was required when the accused were not arrested during investigation.
Earlier, the CBI had informed the court that an additional chargesheet would be filed against Lalu and his family within a month in the case of bribery of land for railway work. Also Feb. It also said that the final charge sheet will be filed by the end of the month. Following this, the court said that the petition will be suspended until the additional chargesheet is filed. Case Background: Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railway Minister in the Congress-led UPA government from 2004 to 2009. Then various persons were appointed to ‘Group D’ posts in various zones of Indian Railways. It was alleged that Lalu and his family had received land as a bribe to provide employment to them. It is to be noted that the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate have registered a separate case and are investigating the matter.
