The incident of setting fire to a tribal woman in Madhya Pradesh has created a sensation. As he screamed about the fire, the assailants recorded the video and shared it on the internet. The video has gone viral on social media and has shocked viewers.
Rambiari Saharia hails from Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. Her husband is Arjun Saharia. They have been given land under the government welfare scheme. Three people who tried to encroach on this land put the woman on her land and tried to burn her to death. But Arjun, who rescued his wife with serious injuries, filed a complaint with the police. On his complaint, the police registered a case and arrested two people.
Shouldn’t there be land? Commenting on the incident, Arjun Saharia said, “We were allotted land by the government and we plowed it for agriculture. But the backward community people in the town didn’t like it. So they kept warning us. At one point we complained that our land was taken away. Then the revenue department gave us the same. The land was given back, but we were threatened.
On Saturday I went to our land. From there, three people namely Pratap, Hanumant and Shyam Kira went fast in a tractor. I rushed towards the land, fearing that something untoward might have happened. There my wife lay unconscious in the smoke. I was immediately rescued and admitted to the hospital. He is fighting for his life.”
Arjun Saharia has complained to the police station that his life has been threatened by the aforementioned trio. No action was taken on the complaint. It is in this situation that his wife Rambriya Saharia has been subjected to this violence.
Congress condemns: Congress strongly condemned the incident. In this regard, Jairam Ramesh, National Spokesperson and senior leader of the Congress Party, said that on the one hand, the BJP is celebrating Drarubathi Murmu as its presidential candidate. On the other hand it is watching the violence against tribal women in the ruling state. It was recorded as humiliating.
