The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, represented by the Sports Affairs Department, launched its second sports event under the title “Sports in Dubai Residency”, which will continue for four days and include a group of sports competitions and activities, as part of efforts to provide a healthy, happy and productive work environment for employees.
The event began with a speech by His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, in which he stressed the importance of such events in promoting awareness of practicing sports and physical activity, and ensuring a healthy work environment that encourages activity and vitality, and motivates all employees to participate in order to maintain physical fitness and general health.
Major General Awad Al Awaim, Assistant Director General for Human Resources and Finance at Dubai Residency, explained that this event comes within the framework of our continuous efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle for employees, noting that their interaction with sports activities and competitions reflects the spirit of cooperation and teamwork adopted by the General Administration.
For his part, Captain Rashid Mohammed Al Marri, Head of the Sports Affairs Department at the General Administration, pointed out the efforts of Dubai Residence to provide the best for its employees by organizing distinctive sports events that meet their physical and psychological needs, through a variety of activities that suit everyone and allow them the opportunity to benefit from the health and psychological benefits of physical sports activity.
The first day of the event witnessed rope tug-of-war exercises with the participation of several teams, and also witnessed the organization of a dialogue session entitled “Healthy Life: Integration of Health, Nutrition and Sports”, in which Eng. Abdullah Badr Al-Awadhi, a bodybuilding trainer, and Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Sharif Al-Awadhi, a bodybuilding trainer and player, participated, and targeted male and female employees from various sectors.
The second day of the event includes rowing machine exercises with the participation of a number of teams, in addition to organizing a workshop on the importance of practicing sports activities for women, presented by Amal Murad, the first Emirati parkour and gymnastics coach, while the third and fourth days will witness cycling and aerobic exercises.
The event will witness, throughout its four days, the organization of a sports products exhibition with the participation of 11 international sports brands that provide sports supplies with exclusive privileges and discounts for Dubai Residence employees and cadres, in addition to presenting gifts to the contestants, and distributing various coupons to the participants that include exclusive discounts on products and healthy foods, as well as subscriptions to bodybuilding and fitness halls.
These global brands and brands include Lululemon Wear, Suki Dungeon Gear in the clothing section, Fittinglam, Fit Code, and Renzojitsu in the gym section, RX Fitness Equipment, and The Wood Guys in the accessories section, while Grab & Go and Protein House participated in the health food section.
