The day before yesterday, the training course for developing football referees, organized by the Football Association, in cooperation with FIFA, began at the headquarters of the Football Association in Dubai, from the first to the fifth of this January, with the participation of 50 male and female referees.
The session activities were opened by the Chairman of the Football Association’s Referees Committee, Salem Ali Al Shamsi, who welcomed the lecturers and participants, and spoke about the importance of the courses and workshops organized in cooperation with the International and Asian Federations, to develop the technical and physical aspects, and matters related to the video technology protocol, and these courses are held during the period when competitions are suspended. The FIFA course program for referees includes theoretical lectures and analysis of arbitration cases, in addition to reviewing the instructions that the match crew must follow and implement in order for the matches to be managed optimally, while the practical aspect includes holding mini-matches with the help of amateur players, during which cases that require technical intervention are monitored. Video, and all decisions made in each case will be discussed and reviewed.
The lectures will be presented by Massimo Busacca, Director of the Referees Department at FIFA, and Carlos Estaroza, the Technical Director of the Referees, in addition to local lecturers from the Referees Department.
