The Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy for Women’s Sports and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced the opening of nominations for the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Award in its eighth edition, yesterday until September 10. In sports excellence in various fields for nine categories, with a total prize amounting to one million and 800 thousand dirhams, the names of the nominees will be announced on October 23, while the award ceremony will be held on November 13.
The Academy revealed in a press conference yesterday that the award is allocated this year to female achievers in the period between September 2023 and September 2024, as it includes the following categories: Best Arab Athlete and the financial prize allocated to her is 500 thousand dirhams, Best Emirati Athlete and her financial prize is 300 thousand dirhams, Best An emerging athlete receives 150,000 dirhams, the best Paralympic athlete receives 150,000 dirhams, the best coach/female coach receives 150,000 dirhams, the best sports journalist receives 100,000 dirhams, the best team receives 300,000 dirhams, and a new category has been created since the seventh edition, which is the best award. An athlete mother, her prize is 150 thousand dirhams.
The Personality of the Year Award is awarded by the jury and is chosen based on the efforts she has achieved and the exceptional success of her outstanding performance and contributions to supporting the women’s sports process.
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (Mother of the Nation), launched this award, as part of Her Highness’s continuing efforts to support the sports system and the sporting scene witnessed by the UAE, and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in particular.
The award enjoys great support and interest from Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy for Women’s Sports and President of the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Women’s Clubs.
