Why did ‘Welcome the Afternoon’ go off the air, despite its funny sequences?
After four years on the air, the program ‘Welcome afternoon’ concluded on December 31, 2015. In that last broadcast, Laura Huarcayo expressed her gratitude to the viewers who tuned in to the program every afternoon to enjoy its content.
“We have to thank the public that accompanied us, thank you for your preference. Thanks to Latina for this great opportunity, to each of the members of the program, thanks to the production, I take away the good and not so good moments. May God Bless you and I hope we see each other again,” said the TV presenter.
On Carlos Vílchez’s YouTube channel, he and Laura Huarcayo, his former co-worker at América TV and Latina, talked at length. During the talk, they recalled their time working together and discussed the reasons why the ‘Welcome Afternoon’ program was cancelled. As mentioned, one of the key factors in the decision to end the program was the constant change in schedule, which generated uncertainty about Laura’s continuity as host.
“I realized that they didn’t want to do anything with the program because they were already bored, they wanted to fool us. It’s the truth, we have to be honest,” said ‘Carlota’. Laura responded: “I don’t think so, the idea of ’BLT’ came from Baruch Ivcher’s administration, then another company buys the channel (Latina) and the content is handled by other people.”
