Russia and Pakistan are discussing the resumption of direct flights between the countries. This was announced on January 30 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“Yes, such a possibility is being discussed between the respective aviation authorities of Russia and Pakistan. Here, as you understand, the commercial component is of no small importance. These issues are under consideration,” he said at a press conference with his Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Earlier, on January 25, Oleg Ozerov, head of the secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, admitted that by July 2023 the Russian Federation and South Africa would launch direct flights. According to him, this step will destroy propaganda stereotypes and stimulate the study of the Russian language.
A day earlier, South African Ambassador to Russia Mzuvukile Maketuka said that discussions on organizing direct flights from Russia to Cape Town had already taken place. Air transportation can be carried out by Nordwind. In the future, after the passenger air service, a cargo air service can be opened.
On January 18, Lavrov expressed hope that direct flights from Russia to Georgia would be restored in the near future. He also noted that “Georgia’s ability to resist the open pressure of the West deserves respect.”
Prior to that, on December 23, Kenyan Ambassador to Moscow Benson Ogutu said that Kenya and Russia are working on establishing regular direct flights between the countries to maintain cooperation. He clarified that the parties have already reached a consensus on the launch of charter flights.
