Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, the doctor for the first football team at the Egyptian Al-Ahly Club, confirmed that Tunisian Ali Maaloul performed a successful surgery on the Achilles tendon on Monday morning, with the knowledge of one of the senior specialist doctors.
Al-Ahly’s doctor said in statements to his club’s official website on Monday, “The surgery that Maaloul underwent is very reassuring.”
He added: “The player will rest for two weeks, then rehabilitation will begin according to the treatment program.”
Maaloul had left his team’s match with Esperance Athletic Club in the first leg of the African Champions League final, which ended in a goalless draw, in the first half due to injury, as x-rays later confirmed that he had suffered a partial tear in the Achilles tendon.
