The Lebanese Hoops team won the title of the fifth edition of the Sharjah International Basketball Championship, after defeating the title holder, the Sharjah Club team, with a score of (69-60), in the final match that was held yesterday, Tuesday, at the Al Bataeh Club Hall.
Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Suburbs Affairs, crowned the Lebanese Hoops team with the championship cup and gold medals, and the Sharjah team with the second place cup and silver medals, in the presence of the Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Sports Club, Khalid Issa Al-Madfa.
The Lebanese Hoops team knew how to ensure its victory in the match, as its players gained the advantage in the results of the first three periods of the match (15-12, 18-16 and 21-12), while the Sharjah players were satisfied with gaining the advantage in the fourth and final period (20-15), which was not enough for them to return with the result of the match.
Hoops joined the list of teams that won the championship title, after Sharjah Club, champion of the second and fourth editions (February 2014-2023), Al-Maryameen of Lebanon, champion of the first edition in 2011, and Al-Nasr of Saudi Arabia, champion of the third edition (November 2014).
