The recent arrest of Andrés Hurtado, popularly known as Chibolin has generated a great media stir. The case has brought to the table the legal implications that not only he, but also his family environment, could face. In this context, criminal lawyer Romy Chang gave revealing statements, suggesting that his daughters, Josetty and Génnesis Hurtado, could be included in the investigation if it is proven that assets or properties of their father were transferred to their names for illicit purposes.
The case is under scrutiny due to the possible connection with crimes related to money laundering, a topic that in Peru usually generates exhaustive investigations. Chang stressed that the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT) will be a key piece in the review of Andrés Hurtado’s assets, who will have to prove the legitimacy of his income and acquisitions. This process would not only affect the driver, but also his daughters if his participation in questionable financial maneuvers is determined.
Will Josetty and Génnesis be involved in the investigation?
The possible involvement of Josetty and Génnesis Hurtado in the investigation depends directly on the relationship they have with their father’s assets and properties. Romy Chang highlighted that, in money laundering situations, it is common for parents to put properties in the name of their children in order to hide the true origin of the money. This implies that, if assets are found in the name of the Hurtado sisters that do not correspond to their income or economic capacity, they could be formally included in the investigation.
However, the lawyer also stressed that not all transfers into the names of children necessarily imply a crime. In cases where it involves maintenance or family gifts, Hurtado’s daughters could avoid legal problems. “If it is only maintenance, perhaps not, because they could say: ‘I don’t know where my parents got the money from’. But if we are talking about properties that have been put in the daughters’ names to hide the fact that he did not have the financial capacity to buy them, then they could be involved,” Chang explained, making clear the two possible paths in this process.
SUNAT’s view on Chibolín’s heritage
Romy Chang, a criminal law specialist, has pointed out that one of the main focuses of attention in money laundering investigations is the way in which the assets of the person under investigation have been built. In the case of Andrés Hurtado, the tax authorities will scrutinize all the assets acquired by the driver and his family. This procedure seeks to determine whether his declared income matches the acquisitions made over the years.

The lawyer explained that, in many cases, close relatives are used to hide the origin of the money, registering properties or assets in their names. This type of legal strategy would be a potentially dangerous path for Josetty and Génnesis Hurtado, if it is discovered that Andrés Hurtado has transferred assets to the name of his daughters to avoid his fortune being linked to illicit activities. “He will have to establish how he has made his assets and if he has really been declaring them to SUNAT. What he has bought, the life he has led, not only him, but also his family, including his daughters,” Chang emphasized.
What were Josetty and Génnesis Hurtado doing when their father Andrés Hurtado was arrested?
While ‘Chibolin’ facing legal problems, his daughter, Génnesis Hurtado, has maintained an active profile on social media, showing off her usual ostentatious lifestyle. Shortly after her father’s arrest, the influencer shared several posts on her social media accounts, including a photograph with a friend, accompanied by the message: “Always very grateful to my beautiful friends.” The young woman was later seen in another video traveling in a luxury vehicle, apparently heading to a social event.
On the other hand, Josetty Hurtado has not issued any public statements regarding the arrest of her father, nor the accusations made by Andrés Hurtado’s former assistant. However, the influencer surprised her followers by publishing an emotional message on her platforms, which provoked various reactions among users.
In the face of the accusations and the growing media attention, Josetty shared several stories on her Instagram account, where she revealed her emotions in the face of the situation she is facing. She accompanied a photograph with the song “I’m Free” by Paris Hilton and Rina Sawayama . The lyric excerpt she uploaded read, “There’s nothing in the world that can bring me down. There’s no one in the room that can take my crown from me ‘Cause I’m shining ’til I shine. And it feels so good.” She further added another excerpt that reinforced her message of strength: “I’m free. To do what I wanna do. It’s my life. I’m gonna do what I wanna do.”
