Speculation spread about the future of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, the German star of Bayern Munich, on Thursday, after reports of a meeting between his agent, Benny Zahavi, and the management of the German club.
According to French radio station RMC, Zahavi requested that his 33-year-old client be allowed to leave, in talks in Munich.
Barcelona has been linked, according to the media, with the inclusion of the best player in the world, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires on June 30, 2023.
Bavarian club sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told Sky: “Now we have time to talk about what happens next, categorically denying that the Polish striker may leave the team at the end of the season.”
It seems that Bayern Munich is hesitant about renewing the player’s contract, given his age and high salary, but he previously publicly confirmed that an attempt to sign Dortmund striker Erling Haaland would be unlikely for the club, given his high salary as well.
For his part, Lewandowski said that dealing with this matter is not easy.
