Libido, iconic national rock band, is finalizing the details for the spectacular concert of more than two hours at the Coloso de José Díaz, where the usual public and the new generations will enjoy their best hits, such as ‘Tres’, ‘tiene thirst’, ‘Like a dog’, ‘It won’t be the same without you’, among others. The group got back together after more than 20 years, as they made the decision to lead their artistic lives separately.
Despite this, the response from the public was better than Salim, Toño, Manolo and Jeffry expected, and now, the artists seek to be on par with the more than 40,000 people who will attend the National Stadium to see them play. Libido is about to reach the long-awaited soldout of tickets on Teleticket, approaching 90% of total sales for next Saturday, July 6.
You can see: Libido makes history at the National Stadium: how many tickets do we need to sell for the ‘sold out’?
—Do coincidences exist? You were able to resolve your differences internally, however, you decided to reunite as a band. What pushed you to give this concert?
— Salim: The money. (laughs)
— Toño: Well, not in the first place. First of all, I think this was moved by the public, right? Then, as you mentioned, it was also an internal issue that each of us was processing over time, eight years of different things. In a way, we have matured a little in various aspects, but we continue to move forward and that is a bit of the end.
And yes, the economic part is obviously a fundamental part that we are not afraid to recognize. It is a remuneration like any of us deserves for our work, so we should not demonize that concept and outside of that, well, make music, have fun, remember.
YOU CAN SEE: Libido at the National Stadium: Salim Vera shares setlist of the concert, what songs will they play?
—How was the first rehearsal after your meeting? Were you perhaps nostalgic about playing the songs together again?
— Jeffry: The truth is that we spent several months talking virtually, because, well, not all of us live here in Lima and that helped us too. From there we talked a little when the businessman wanted to hire us and the first rehearsal went well. I think there was a lot of chemistry, it felt like we hadn’t broken up in that long, right? And I think we had to do this rehearsal a little also thinking about the presentation we had in Miraflores. That was like a relief too and a pleasure.
— Salim: Yes. We responded to the clamor of the fans and of so many years, who wanted to see the original line-up and, well, it was practically like a kind of punch, of push, of will and we decided to give free rein to our instincts.
—And how are the rehearsals now? Salim, in an interview you commented that being together for so many years made you want to kill each other, figuratively speaking, is that still the case or not anymore?
— Salim: No, we don’t want to kill ourselves. We want to kill each other (laughs). No, we are only focused on rehearsing, which I think is our biggest priority right now; It is about having the show that we are going to give at the National Stadium well known because this is something completely epic and we have to offer, well, to be up to the standards of the National Stadium and the 40,000 people who are going to come see us.
— Manolo: For us it is also a point that we want to do well, we have to do it well. Everything has to be top-notch, from the musical to the visual. We are giving everything and, yes, there is a memory of that magic that we had at the beginning, of course, we feel it. We are going to do something special that Saturday, July 6.

—Each of you has evolved in your own way, separated and now together, but the public has also evolved, was the reception the same?
— Toño: Everything that happens is positive and, yes, it is surprises. But the new generation that was listening recharges us with energy to be able to show ourselves to a number of people who did not know the group, kids who are, well, 20 years old and had not seen us together, the original formation and that motivates us.
In everything that is behind the scenes, so on that side, well, it is going to be an unforgettable experience, both for the people who have been with us since the beginning and the new audience. There are still a few tickets left, they are on Teleticket, I would tell you not to miss this experience because it is going to be an unforgettable moment. And I hope that, well, everyone who is watching us gets their act together and we finish filling the National Stadium.
—After this concert, what’s next? each one to his house?
—Salim: Yes, pumpkin. (laughs)
—Jeffry: Now we are focused on this concert, probably, we are talking about whether there are going to be some more concerts in Peru or abroad and that is as far as we go, for the moment, and then we will see what else can come.
