Liquor policy corruption case 2nd phase of interrogation of Sisodia who is in jail today

New Delhi: The officials of the Enforcement Department have said that the second phase of investigation will be held today against the former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia who is lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with the liquor corruption case.

Last February, the CBI asked Manish Sisodia to appear for investigation regarding the alleged corruption in the enforcement of liquor policy in Delhi. It was reported on 26th. After 8 hours of interrogation, the CBI arrested Sisodia and sent him to jail. Subsequently, the Central Intelligence Agency took Manish Sisodia into custody with the permission of the court and interrogated him for 7 days. After that, he was produced in the court and ordered to keep him in judicial custody for 14 days. Subsequently, Manish Sisodia was lodged in Tihar Jail.

The Enforcement Directorate had obtained permission from the local court to interrogate former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in cell number 1 of Tihar Jail. When Manish Sisodia was the Excise Minister of Delhi, it seems that an investigation may be conducted regarding the frequent changes and deletion of the information contained in his cell phones and the implementation of the liquor policy.

On 17 November 2021, the Aam Aadmi Party government implemented a new liquor policy. Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar reported to Delhi Lt Governor Saxena that there have been irregularities in various issues including the granting of licenses to liquor shops under the new liquor policy. Accordingly, the Lt. Governor recommended a CBI investigation.
