Listeria Concern; Cadbury Recalled Products Including Dairy Milk In The UK

Cadbury recalls chocolate products from UK stores. The company is recalling the products due to listeria scare. Cadbury has warned those who bought chocolates from the recalled batches not to eat them. Reports surfaced that the company would offer a refund if they were returned to the company. The UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) has intervened in the matter. Those who bought the products were advised not to eat them. Also asked to check the expiry date of the products. No issues have been reported so far with the company’s other batch of products.

The Food Standards Agency has issued a warning in relation to the following six types of Cadbury’s products.

Dame Chocolate Dessert
Crunchy Chocolate Dessert
Flake Chocolate Dessert

Dairy Milk Buttons Chocolate Dessert
Dairy Milk Chunks Chocolate Dessert
Heroes Chocolate Dessert

Flake and crunchy desserts are concerned with products expiring on May 17 and other products expiring on May 18. All of these are among the company’s recalls.

Listeria is a type of bacteria that forms in refrigerated foods. This bacteria causes an infection called listeriosis. After infection, no symptoms may appear for a few days. Some people experience minor symptoms for a few days.

The symptoms of listeriosis are similar to those of the flu. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, body aches, chills, and diarrhea. The symptoms of the infection will vary depending on the person infected and the part of the body affected, the FSA said.

In most people, such infections do not cause serious health problems. However, it can seriously affect pregnant women. Even deaths from listeriosis have been reported. In rare cases, listeriosis can also cause serious conditions such as meningitis.
