The Netherlands has started 2023 with a bang, after two New Years with a fireworks ban. Ornamental fireworks could be seen and bang fireworks could be heard throughout the country, even where a lighting ban was in effect. Dozens of arrests were made in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, including for setting off heavy fireworks and throwing them at police officers and bystanders.
