New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accused the BJP-led central government of fighting with state governments, judges, farmers and businessmen.
Kejriwal said this while pointing to a news about the difference of opinion between the Central Government and the Supreme Court regarding the appointment of Chief Justices by the collegium and advised the Modi government not to interfere in the work of others.
In a post on Twitter, he said, “Why does the central government keep clashing with judges, the Supreme Court, state governments, farmers, businessmen? If you clash with everyone, the country will not be able to move on the path of progress. You, look at your work, let others do their work. Don’t interfere in other people’s work.” stated.
In Delhi, various conflicts are taking place between the Chief Minister of the state and the Lieutenant Governor of the state appointed by the central government regarding the administration of the state. Last month, Kejriwal marched to Raj Niwas along with the deputy chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party MLAs to protest the Delhi government’s delay in sending government primary school teachers to Finland for training.
Similarly, while the Enforcement Directorate has filed a charge sheet in the case related to Delhi’s new liquor policy, he has accused the central government of using government agencies to topple state governments and bribe MLAs.
Also, the Aam Aadmi Party has filed a case in the Supreme Court against the Government of National Capital Delhi (Amendment) Act, which gives more powers to the Lieutenant Governor. The case is yet to be adjudicated.
In this context, Arvind Kejriwal, speaking at a press conference on Thursday, said, “The Constitution and the law say that the Lieutenant Governor is subject to the help and advice of the Cabinet Committee. For this, files need not be sent to the Governor. But contrary to this, the Government of National Capital Delhi (Amendment) Act, 2021, which has been enacted, is against the Constitution. I believe that the Supreme Court will give a verdict,” he said.
