Algerian Abdeljalil Maashou (31 years old) confirmed his return to Al-Wasl Club, after an absence of four seasons, and with a contract within the category of “resident” player, extending for the remainder of the current season in the handball competition.
Maasho graduated through the senior stages of the Al-Wasl team, before starting the 2020-2021 season, a professional experience outside the club’s walls, which he started with Dibba Al-Hisn, with whom he achieved the title of top scorer in the league with a total of 186 goals, then moving to Al-Nasr, in whose ranks he played over the past three seasons.
Maasho told Emirates Al-Youm: “I am happy to return to the club with which I graduated in the junior high teams, before entering a professional experience, during which I gained a lot of experience.”
He added: “Last season, I suffered an injury to the cruciate ligament, which kept me out of competition since the middle of the season, and I later entered the treatment stages, which lasted more than six months.”
Regarding his future ambitions with Al Wasl, Maasho said: “I received a warm welcome upon my return to Al Wasl, which has a large fan base, not only in football but also in handball, and I am happy to join a renewed team that combines the elements of experience and youth, because more than… Half of the team is made up of faces that have proven their strong presence in the age groups.”
He concluded: “I look forward to putting my experiences in order to achieve the aspirations of (the Emperor) and provide good levels, especially in the league championship that begins next month, which is considered the most important in the men’s competitions calendar, amidst ambitions for this renewed team to provide the level expected of it, and embody the aspirations of the club’s management.” “In restoring handball to its former glory as one of the most prominent clubs that presented prominent names to the national teams.”
