Madrid: Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus won the singles title at the Madrid Open International Tennis Tournament.
The Madrid Open tennis tournament kicked off last Monday (May 1) in Madrid, Spain. In this case, in the women’s singles semi-final held last Thursday, Sabalenka and Greece’s Maria Zakari clashed. Sabalenka won in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 and qualified for the final round.
Friday’s other semi-final pitted Poland’s Ika Sviatek against Russia’s Veronika Guntermedova. In this, Sviatek won in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 and advanced to the final round.
In this case, Sabalenka and Iga Sviatek clashed in the final round held the day before yesterday. Sabalenka won the first set 6-3. However, in the 2nd set, Sviatek recovered and won the set 6-3.
Sabalenka then played well in the last set to decide the victory, winning 6-3. Subsequently, Sabalenka won the Madrid Open tennis tournament.
