Mumbai Violence broke out in Parbhani, Maharashtra amid the ongoing protests since yesterday over the insult to the Constitution. On Wednesday afternoon, protesters set fire to several areas. To control the situation, police released tear gas shells. The protesters are demanding hanging of those who insult the Constitution. The reaction of Baba Saheb’s grandson Prakash Ambedkar on the Parbhani incident has also come to light.
According to the information, on Tuesday some miscreant damaged the replica of the Constitution kept near the statue of BR Ambedkar outside Parbhani railway station, after which arson and stone pelting took place. In protest against this, many organizations had appealed for a bandh in the city. Suddenly people got angry during the bandh. The miscreants started arson at many places. The police released tear gas shells to control the situation.
According to the police, the people who came to enforce the closure vandalized many shops and started pelting stones at the police. After this the police used force. Bahujan Vikas Aghadi leader Prakash Ambedkar has demanded the arrest of those who damaged the statue of Baba Saheb within 24 hours. He also appealed to the people to maintain peace.
Meanwhile, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) chief Prakash Ambedkar has also given his reaction in the matter. Ambedkar said that it is very shameful that casteist Maratha miscreants flouting the Indian Constitution on the statue of Babasaheb in Parbhani. He has said that this is not the first time that such vandalism has been done on Baba Saheb’s statue or a symbol of Dalit identity. Ambedkar has appealed to everyone to maintain law and order.
