A person forgot an envelope with thousands of dollars in a shopping cart at a Walmart in Ohio. Luckily for the owner of the money, an honest man discovered the cash and did not hesitate to do the right thing and return the cash.
“I would like to think that if something like this ever happened to me, someone would do the same for me,” said Robert Sneed, who found the money, as reported by the WSAZ information portal.
According to Sneed, it was an ordinary afternoon in which he was with his daughter ready to go shopping, when suddenly they noticed something in the shopping cart that they were going to take to throw out the groceries.
“I saw a piece of paper and thought it was someone’s shopping list. I was getting ready to throw it away until it felt a little heavy and I realized it was an envelope,” Sneed said.
The Ohio resident said that He opened the envelope and that’s when he realized it was full of $100 bills..
“I saw a bank statement and my first thought was to take it to the bank, but they were closed. So, I just went to a manager,” Sneed said.
The Good Samaritan shared that he found a manager and gave them the money. He also posted on social media about finding the cash, hoping to find the true owner.
“For someone who lives paycheck to paycheck, this can be a setback. It can really ruin someone’s summer,” Sneed said.
A Walmart spokesperson said that thanks to Sneed, the money was returned to the owner and he said the person picked it up later that night.
